Development stores
A real store with sample data and test payments, where you install your version before any merchant sees it.
What a development store is
A full LARM store running on a service separate from merchant stores. It comes with sample data: digital products with test codes, physical products with stock, and customers and orders in different statuses. It is not connected to any real payment gateway, messaging provider or shipping carrier, and payments in it are test payments that move no money.
Create a store
From the Development stores tab in the Developer Portal:
- Development stores are free.
- Each organization can have at most two stores at a time. Exceeding the limit returns
DEV_STORE_LIMIT_REACHED. - The organization owner or an admin creates it, with a verified email address.
If you see "The development environment is not ready yet", the development store service is not enabled in this workspace yet. Contact the LARM team from the portal.
How long a store lives
A development store lives 10 days after it is created, then it expires. The portal shows how many days are left on each store, and warns you 2 days before it expires.
When a store expires it is closed: you can no longer open its dashboard, and your app's tokens for it stop working. An expired store is not renewed or restored; a restore request returns 409 DEV_STORE_EXPIRED. It no longer counts toward your organization's limit, so create a new store from the same tab and install your development version on it again.
Install your version
You do not need to publish the app to try it:
- Create a version on the
developmentchannel. - Submit it for technical approval. An approved development version can be installed only on your organization's development stores, and no merchant can see it.
- Open the app from the development store, and the app launch and authorization flows run exactly as they do for a merchant.
A store from another organization returns 403 DEV_PARTNER_BINDING_REQUIRED.
Try webhooks
- Create an order in the development store and pay it with the test payment method; you receive
order.created, thenorder.paid, thenorder.digital.delivered. - From the Webhook log, send a test webhook for any topic and watch your endpoint's response.
- A test webhook arrives with
test: true. Do not perform real work for it.
Development store limits
The same rate limits apply, and the IP limit is 600 requests per minute for development store traffic. The data is sample data; never put real customer data in it.
